Participants will hear from high school AP Language and Literature teachers about practices used in class to generate higher level thinking, as well as strategies to write with depth and complexity. We will share a variety of tools to encourage gifted students to break down and take ownership of the writing process.
A Socratic Seminar is a valuable discussion strategy that can be used with students of all learning levels. It encourages thoughtful dialogue, critical thinking, and active listening in a supportive environment. For GT students, it provides the depth and challenge they need to stay engaged and explore complex ideas. The open-ended format allows all students to contribute at their own level while learning from one another. This makes it a flexible and enriching tool for diverse classrooms.
